We are embracing retirement, and making the most of it.

We knew we were never going to sit still for long, so whilst we are happy and healthy we will be out and about seeing the world………… full time.

We are out of the fast lane and taking the slow road ahead

Tropical Island stay

After arriving in Townsville and with the generosity of our son inlaw’s sister we parked up our van at her home and headed over to Magnetic Island with the car for a full week. Are you allowed to say you are having a “holiday ” when you are retired.?

Wow, there was so much to see, glad we had the car.......

We stayed in a resort at Nellie Bay called Amaroo, with lush tropical grounds, pool, tennis (yes we even played twice), wallabies, kookaburras and lorikeets.

Magnetic Island has so many beautiful beaches/bays bordered by granite outcrops, coastal reefs, walks/hikes, military history, wildlife, and several marinas. If has a small population, shops, restaurants, school, car ferry and one small campground.

So cute....

Great use of the large granite boulders, search lights were built on top of this one

Cute Island get-abouts

A reminder we are getting close to Cairns

The blue winged kookaburra is a close contender for the bird of the week as they were in such abundance, but I only saw one Sunbird and that was my reward for hiking out to the search lights

The beautiful frangipani was in bloom all over the island
