Crap Art in Cowell is an initiative of the Cowell Art Group. The ladies and gents toilets is one way of getting your art work noticed.  All pieces are for sale, around $30, and you put your money in the attached envelope and take it next door to the Council Offices. Effectively it is a 24/7 art gallery.

Cowell, on the coast of Eyre Peninsula, is a lovely tidy town, with heritage stone buildings. The toilets were down a picturesque alley between 2 stone buildings both  built in 1911.

Best dressed Termite Mounds anywhere. 

For hundreds and hundreds of kilometres along the Barkly  Highway there are dressed termite mounds to amuse weary drivers, and their passengers!

It’s a small world.....

We met Julian and Jan from Adelaide on Kangaroo Island and camped with them for 2 nights and enjoyed a great bush walk and BBQ and then bumped into Julian in Strathalbyn when we were house sitting, outside of a bakery in the Main Street.  He had ridden his motor bike down from Adelaide to scout a possible club run. 

An Eden van owner from Sunshine Coast was parked 2 up from us in Victor Harbour Cvan Pk, we had an hour long chat just as we were leaving. He spotted us in Wallaroo Cvan Pk, just as we were packing to leave again,  another great catch up.

Carol, travelling on her own from near Canberra  had a great chat with me whilst we were camping at Point Lowly.  She was also parked adjacent to us at Hawker Cvan Pk, another couple of good days chatting together.

Our home owners in Strathalbyn for our house sit were from Whyalla, with Bridget being born there, and they lived there all the years I lived there.  They were great to reminisce with, and it gave us a very warm connection.

We just found out that one of our dearest friends now living in Darwin was visiting Adelaide this week, and as we are just outside of Adelaide they drove over to Strathalbyn today for a catch up. 

It blows us away how people come into your life, leave, and pop right back in again.

It’s been awhile and I have a couple of contenders tucked away for this segment, but this one of Nessy had us both laughing.

South Australia is very dry at the moment, and as we drove through the small town of Locheil I said to Derek “not much chance of seeing a Loch Ness monster here”, then around the next bend this is what we saw in the salt pan.  We are glad our van is able to do a u-turn - no problem.

Dogs are a more than welcome guest at our 6 story hotel in Whistler......they even have doggy treats for them on arrival

Evidently about 50% of hotels in Canada are dog friendly. So funny to see them riding in the lifts.

This “Statue Street Busker” in the Darwin Mall nicely explained to Derek that he cannot except any money, when Derek couldn’t find anywhere to put it on the ground.

He was practising his Falon Dafa (Gong).  Seriously! We thought he was a statue as he didn’t move for over 5 minutes.

We were always taught that the shortest distance between two places is in a straight line.

Queenstown Lake Watakipu, the telegraph poles go straight through the lake instead of around it, with no warning to boating traffic.

It also has an average depth of 230m so this also makes it quite amazing.

After making a mercy dash back to an Apple IT repairer in Cairns after the work computer wouldn't turn on today, we headed back up to Port Douglas along one of Australia's most scenic coastal highways.  And, as if we haven't encountered enough nature on the road these days, there was a dingo standing right in front of us.  Derek says in the 9 years he did this same drive for work when we lived up here, he never once saw a dingo.......let alone 2!

The drive today was from Lightning Ridge to Carnarvon Gorge (7 hrs). We had kangaroos in the middle of the road,  horses and cows jumping out at us, and emus and teddy bears watching from the side - all in the "middle of nowhere".  Seriously!
