We are embracing retirement, and making the most of it.

We knew we were never going to sit still for long, so whilst we are happy and healthy we will be out and about seeing the world………… full time.

We are out of the fast lane and taking the slow road ahead

Loving Alice

Alice Springs has really surprised us, although Derek had been here twice before with work, quite awhile ago. It is very liveable, surrounded by beautiful rugged ranges that just glow as the sun moves over them. Four nights is not long enough, well worth a flight here for a holiday if you like nature.

After settling in on Saturday, going to Church on Sunday, we ventured out for a 10k early morning walk today via the historical Overland Telegraph Office, Bradshaws Walk where we saw black footed rock wallabys and kangaroos on the rocks, followed the dry Todd River into town, walked the historical town centre, then back to our Van Park for a well deserved swim.

A remaining telegraph pole from the OLT, along a dry Todd River

Plenty of these Australian Ringneck Parrots along the way, and around our Van site, my new favourite non water bird

This afternoon we drove up Anzac Hill, (pictured with East and West MacDonnell Ranges in background - love the little gap in between) and  hiked up Annie Meyers Hill (named after 1st European woman to live here, in 1891, she was the wife of the blacksmith) at the botanical gardens, more great views.

Saw our first Sturt Desert Pea growing along side the highway, I truly thought they were much bigger, so beautiful

Another free day tomorrow, then off to the West MacDonnell Ranges
