We are embracing retirement, and making the most of it.

We knew we were never going to sit still for long, so whilst we are happy and healthy we will be out and about seeing the world………… full time.

We are out of the fast lane and taking the slow road ahead

Bright and Beautiful

A quick turn around and we were all packed up with camping gear and took the 2 oldest to Bright in Victoria for 4 days camping on the Ovens River.

Bright is at the foot of the Victorian Alpine district, and our usual stopping off point when we head up the Alps to Mt Hotham for skiing.  The kids wanted a camping experience, but we ruled out bush camping because we wanted the security of a Holiday Park, so we could have a day out on nearby Mt Buffallo and climbed to the summit -Mt Horn, without worrying about leaving all our gear.

We also walked the 3.6 km Bright Canyon walk in high 30’s temp. Kids couldn’t resist getting soaked , fully clothed on the way back in the river.  The Ovens has a huge gold history, so there were lots of interpretive boards along the way, plus a swing bridge and our 4th geocache of the trip.

The holiday park had a pool, mini golf 18 holes, was very picturesque, over run with kids (but it was still school holidays), had a river running through the middle which was great for cooling off, and very central to the town centre. We kept meals quick and easy and the Kids had a fabulous time.

Bright is even more spectacular in autumn, we will have to go back again.

As fun as it was for a change, we are looking forward to our first trip out with our caravan.  Probably March!
