We are embracing retirement, and making the most of it.

We knew we were never going to sit still for long, so whilst we are happy and healthy we will be out and about seeing the world………… full time.

We are out of the fast lane and taking the slow road ahead

Travelling in Style

In November when we were in Cairns we spotted a great Off Road caravan in Melbourne. (just our luck, we were not in Finley - 3 hours away) Derek flew down, fell in love with it and it was ours. It is 15 foot, ensuited and fully capable for bush camping including corregated roads.

We decided that the weather is too cold in southern Australia for far too much of the year - 9 months, and we needed (yes needed not wanted) a camper in which we could cook and eat in warmth.  Our hiace is fabulous for Qld weather, nice warm mornings and evenings sitting outside under the side awning, but was not working for us in Victoria. There are so many pros and cons for having a campervan or a caravan, but in the end I don't think we will be keeping both.

Jenna and Jordan wanted to join in on our little adventure, so they came with us to Shepparton to get modifications done to the Landcruiser including the very necessary tow bar fitted. We stayed overnight, and with much excitement we drove to Melbourne to get the van and back to ARB in Shepparton to complete the modifications with the van attached.  Another over nighter this time in a cabin at a Big 4 Caravan Park so they could have some fun in the pool, games room and playing cricket and on the jumping pillow, and then another whole day in Shep, before we could bring "her" home. She is such a little cutie - but very decieving. So spacious and robust.  It was a great 3 days hanging out with Jenna and Jordan, they are tons of fun, always making us laugh.

Outside ARB

Back home - not much bigger than my car.

Thank you for following.

  1. That's a snazzy van. Not too big but big enough for all you're needs. Looks like the kids were having fun. We had lunch yesterday & we wondering how the camping trip in Bright went with all the grandchildren. We're all looking forward to reading the blog. Best wishes to you both. xx oo
