We are embracing retirement, and making the most of it.

We knew we were never going to sit still for long, so whilst we are happy and healthy we will be out and about seeing the world………… full time.

We are out of the fast lane and taking the slow road ahead

Boyne was Beaut

We wanted to have another look at Tannum Sands after 20+ years and found a beaut of a caravan park on the Boyne River at Boyne Island.  We were in the no power and no water section right on the river with it’s own boat ramp, at the most we shared this lovely open space with 4 others, we loved it so much, it wasn’t hard to fill in time so extended our stay to 7 days.

There is very little in the way of bush camping close to the coast, so this is a gem

Boyne River divides the Island on the left and Tannum Sands on the right

Caught six of these butter bream, too pretty to keep

A day out at Tannum Sands, great foreshore walk...sculptures made from bolts, chains etc

20 minutes north is the city of Gladstone and a picnic on the marina, and walked the parklands, it was picturesque and sunny

Mt Larcom in the background

Even the thousands of tiny bats were sweet but noisy, they looked like teddy bears all tucked in, nature at its best

Gladstone and Boyne Isl are the aluminium capital of Australia....so cute

Our bird of the week is the Red Tailed black cockatoo,  the female has the multicoloured body and tail, at Tannum Sands

Superb... Derek took this video of them...it was awesome watching them
