We are embracing retirement, and making the most of it.
We knew we were never going to sit still for long, so whilst we are happy and healthy we will be out and about seeing the world………… full time.
We are out of the fast lane and taking the slow road ahead

Perfect Beach Day
After almost 2 weeks in Brisbane/Lawnton whilst we changed vehicles and sold my much loved Mazda 6, and caught up with family and friends, it is lovely to be back on the Sunshine Coast for a brief visit. We have a 60th birthday to attend, our accountant and doctor to see, and some last minute reorganising of our new tow vehicle (more on that soon). It was great to fill in half an hour at our old local beach Moffat Beach, (where we used to spend everyday walking TicTac)......lots of memories.......but it was a perfect day !

White Kangaroos - another First
As we crossed the border into SA at Bordertown, (very logical name) we came across these Kangaroos in a 4.5 hect reserve. The White Kangaroos are a genetic strain of the Western Grey (they are not albinos, even though you can get albino kangaroos). The first big White was brought to the reserve in 1980 and this mob of 8 are his descendants. The white can miss a gereration. Truely remarkable sight, we are really blessed to be able to enjoy such marvells.

River Gums and Moulamein
We found another route back to Finley which followed the Edward River and went through the oldest town in the Riverina district known as Moulamein c1846.

Utilising the rivers with steam and paddle boats was the quickest way to move crops, goods and livestock before the railway reached this far inland later in the 19th century. It is hard to imagine how busy this administration town once was. We had fun exploring it on foot, the tribute to boat captains, the wharf, court house, and examples of typical Aussie artwork and sense of humour which makes such towns as this unique and fun.

The banks of rivers such as the Murray, Edward and Darling are covered in gum trees also known as Red River Gums. This is one of the best examples we have seen, it was in Moulamein just as you cross a very old bridge to reach the old court house which is being restored.

Hobbs and Shaw
It maybe cold and bleak at times, but that is always a good day to head to a regional town with a cinema. Have been waiting for Aug 1st for this Fast and Furious spin off. Yay!

The Bluff
Back to Victor Harbor SA, for some sea breeze and spectacular scenery for a few days and to climb up the Bluff aka Rosetta Head. We did a 10km return hike from our van park on the beach. Wow, the scenery was awesome. We also managed a 10km return bike ride down to Port Elliott, whilst we were there.
